Namita Thapar is a remarkably successful businesswoman who is also an investor on Shark Tank India and the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals. As the Emcure Pharma IPO opened for subscription on July 3, Thapar is set to receive Rs 128 crore through share sale via the public issue.

Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, is a well-known figure in the pharmaceutical industry and one of the wealthiest Shark Tank India judges. She has appeared on the business reality show for three seasons.

As per reports, Namita Thapar’s net worth is currently estimated to be Rs 600 crore, which she earned mostly as Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Meanwhile, Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ initial public offering (IPO) is up for subscription today, July 3. The initial public offer will close for subscription on July 5. On the first day, the Emcure Pharma received 1.31 time subscription.

Namita Thapar will offload 12,68,600 shares through the public offer and at the upper price band of the IPO at Rs 1,008 per share, she will receive nearly Rs 128 crore.

Who Is Namita Thapar?

Namita Thapar is an accomplished entrepreneur, business leader, and angel investor. She was born on March 21, 1977, and currently serves as Executive Director of Emcure Pharma, a company set up by her father, Satish Ramanlal Mehta. She has played an important role in the company’s growth and business expansion.

Namita Thapar has invested in over 100 companies, including several startups that featured on Shark Tank India. In 2001, she earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She is also a certified Chartered Accountant.

After shifting to India, she began as chief financial officer (CFO) at Emcure Pharmaceuticals before rising to the post of executive director.

Namita Thapar joined Emcure as CFO after working for Guidant Corporation in the United States for six years. Her responsibilities later expanded to include overseeing Emcure’s operations in the domestic market.

In addition to her role at Emcure, Namita also serves as the CEO of Incredible Ventures Ltd, an education company.

Some of her notable investments include Bummer, Altor (a smart helmet startup), InACan (a cocktail firm), and Wakao Foods (a ready-to-cook food maker).

Namita Thapar is a recipient of various prestigious corporate awards such as The Economic Times ‘40 under Forty’ award, Barclays Hurun Next Gen Leader recognition, Economic Times 2017 Women Ahead List, and World Women Leadership Congress Super Achiever award.

She owns a Rs 50-crore property in Pune and is married to Vikas Thapar. Her luxury car collection includes a BMW X7 priced at Rs 2 crore, a Mercedes-Benz GLE, and an Audi Q7.
