Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (Scheme) (PMJJBY) provides life insurance coverage for death due to any cause. This annual coverage is renewable and is available through banks or post offices, with administration handled by life insurance firms. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 to 50 who hold accounts with participating banks or post offices.

A government-backed life insurance scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana was launched in May 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The scheme is available through the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and other participating life insurance companies.

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana Benefits

PMJJBY offers a one-year term life cover of Rs 2.00 Lakh to all subscribers in the age group of 18-50 years.

It covers death due to any reason.

The premium payable is Rs 436/- per annum per subscriber, to be auto-debited from the subscriber’s bank/post office account.

What Is The Minimum Eligibility To Subscribe To PMJJBY?

The age of the applicant must be between 18 to 50 years.

The applicant must hold an individual bank/post office account.

All savings bank account holders in age 18 to 50 years in participating banks will be entitled to join. In case of multiple bank accounts held by an individual in one or different banks, the person would be eligible to join the scheme through one savings bank account only.

How Do You Pay Premium For PMJJBY?

The premium will be deducted from the account holder’s bank / Post office account through the ‘auto debit’ facility.
