New Delhi: Talks between striking contractual workers and management at Hero Honda are in a limbo. Representatives of the workers today failed to turn up for talks with the management.

The Additional Labour Commissioner of Harayana along with the contractors have been talking to the workers for a solution. According to the management, most of the workers demands have been met. Despite this, the 2,000 odd workers are yet to join work.

The workers went on strike from Monday and this has brought work at the largest Hero Honda plant at a standstill. The production loss at the plant is estimated at over 20,000 units.

Among other things, the workers are demanding regularisation on the basis of seniority, higher wages and benefits like medical facilities and compensatory offs.

Hero Honda has said that while regularising some of the workers, it would consider a variety of factors, including seniority, qualification, skill levels and capability.

Hero Honda, the country's biggest bike maker, has the Munjals and Japan's Honda Motor as the biggest stakeholders, both holding 26 per cent each.

Apart from Gurgaon, the company has a second plant at Dharuhera, also in Haryana, though production levels there are lower than the Gurgaon facility.
