The very Severe cyclonic storm, Vardah, is likely to cross north Tamil Nadu/south Andhra Pradesh coast on Monday afternoon, Meteorological Department Director S Balachandran said.
Chennai: Cyclone Vardah, categorised as very severe, made landfall near Chennai on Monday afternoon, killing at least four people.
“The landfall was at Pulicat (Tamil Nadu) followed by strong winds," said RK Pachnanda, DG, NDRF.
Over 9,400 people living along the Bay of Bengal coast in SPS Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh have been evacuated to relief camps amid heavy rains due to the influence of severe cyclonic storm Vardah.
