Experienced Indian Cricketer Dubs Mukesh Kumar as 'A Run-away Standout Bowler for India'
Ravichandran Ashwin dubbed Mukesh Kumar as the junior version of India's World Cup star, Mohammed Shami as the young pacer impressed Ashwin with his performances so far for India.

India’s star spinner in the red-ball format, Ravichandran Ashwin was all praise for the latest pace-bowling talent, Mukesh Kumar. The pacer will likely feature for India in the second T20I against Australia which is taking place in Thiruvananthapuram.

The spinner praised the ability of Mukesh Kumar as he labelled him as ‘a run-away stand-out bowler for India,’ in his recently uploaded video on his YouTube channel.

The experienced Indian international player in his video also dubbed Mukesh as the next version of Mohammad Shami. Ashwin revealed that he called Shami ‘Lalettan,’ a south Indian reference to the Mollywood actor Mohanlal’ as Shami is popularly known as ‘Lala’ in the Indian dressing room.

Ashwin called Mukesh Kumar the ‘Junior Lala,’ meaning the Junior version of India’s World Cup 2023 star, Mohammad Shami.

Mukesh Kumar has made his debut in all formats for India and has featured in the longest format during the West Indies tour in July, earlier in the year.

More recently, Mukesh Kumar also was part of the Indian playing 11 where he finished with figures of 0/29 in his four overs during a high-scoring thriller where Australia had set a target of 209 in their 20 overs.

In comparison, only Axar Patel was able to keep the batters relatively quiet with the ball. Despite not taking a wicket, Mukesh Kumar managed to finish the first innings with the best economy rate with just 7.25 runs per over while other pacers like Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna were giving away 10.25 and 12.5 runs per over.

Another question that remains is whether he will continue with the Delhi Capitals or whether the franchise will release the player ahead of the deadline to announce the retained list of players and the upcoming auctions for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. Many franchises would be eager for the services of the pacer who made his debut in the IPL last season.
