Pakistan cricketer Imam-ul-Haq has extended his heartiest congratulations to uncapped Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan for securing a maiden Test call-up. The BCCI on Sunday picked the Mumbai batter, along with uncapped Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar, after the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were ruled out of the second England Test due to injury.

Imam was delighted over Sarfaraz’s inclusion in the squad. The southpaw also shared a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

“Congratulations brother so happy for you,” read the post shared by the Pakistan international.

Several fans reacted to the post with many of them expressing their happiness for Sarfaraz Khan’s selection in the India Test squad.

Meanwhile, legendary West Indies batter and Sarfaraz’s former IPL teammate, Chris Gayle also congratulated the 26-year-old. Taking to Instagram, Gayle posted a picture on his story and wrote, “Go get em, Sarfaraz.”

After India’s opening Test against England, it was announced that Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul would not be able to compete further due to injury issues. Jadeja reportedly suffered a hamstring injury while Rahul complained about quadriceps pain post-game. Virat Kohli will also be absent in the upcoming Test against England.

Sarfaraz Khan caught the attention of the cricketing world when the youngster amassed 928 runs in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy campaign. He scored these runs in just six games. He remained consistent in the following season, adding another 556 runs in six games. Sarfaraz also represented India A.

Meanwhile, Team India started their Test series in Hyderabad in a dominant way as they curbed England at 246 in the first innings. The hosts posted a solid total of 436 during their first innings. However, things started falling apart in England’s second innings. None of the Indian bowlers could stop Ollie Pope’s rampage that saw the English batter smash 196 runs in 278 balls. His knock included 21 boundaries. During India’s second innings, the hosts kept losing wickets in frequent intervals and eventually lost the match by 28 runs.
