Former India cricketer Dodda Ganesh walked down memory lane to share an old photo from the early 2010s after Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut for India during the first Test match against South Africa on Tuesday.
Krishna was picked in India’s XI ahead of Mukesh Kumar for the Boxing Day Test at Centurion.
Ganesh posted a note for Krishna on social media platform X and recalled the time when the tearaway pacer came up at the KSCA coaching camp and trained under him.
This kid on my extreme right turned up for KSCA coaching in early 2010s, and impressed me straightway with his ability to make the ball talk with pace. Today, the same kid Prasidh Krishna is making his debut for India and I’m over the moon. Meanwhile, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl first in the overcast conditions as the toss was delayed due to rain.
“We are quite aware of the conditions, we have been here a few times. We need to put runs on the board and the bowlers will do the job for us. We do understand the challenge of batting first with the overhead conditions and the grass, but the guys are up for the challenge. Everytime we come here, we come with high hopes. We’ve come close in the last 2 tours,” Rohit Sharma said at the toss.
“We are pretty confident with our squad and the make-up of our squad. We are playing with four seamers and a spinner. Ashwin is playing in place of Jadeja. Jaddu had a bit of a back spasm, so Ashwin comes in and he is a quality spinner to have. Prasidh is making his debut, along with the other pacers Shardul, Siraj and Bumrah,” he added.
