Suryakumar Yadav’s explosiveness with the bat is an unmistakable trait of the Indian skipper. Nitish Kumar Reddy learned it the hard way as the Indian batter was struck to the ground with a thumping drive from his skipper that clobbered him on the shoulder during India’s 2nd T20I against Bangladesh in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Bangladesh’s Shanto won the toss and in an uncanny decision opted to bowl first, allowing Surya’s men to take on the challenge with the bat first.
The visitors would in fact start off well, as openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma would fall in realtively quick intervals, after a couple of big hits, to push India to 25-2 in 3 overs.
Skipper Suryakumar and Nitish Reddy would then take the crease, with hopes of reebuilding India’s innings.
Surya would find it uncharacteristically difficult to get going, as he slumped to find just one boundary.
Aiming to speed up the scoring, Surya would come down the crease against Taskin Ahmed, to clobber one straight down the ground. But, unfortunately for him and his non-striker, it would be Nitish Kumar Reddy who would get hit with the thunderous drive, taking the impact of his shot on his shoulders as he got knocked down.

Nitish would thankfully get going once again, and he would prove to be a pivotal piece for India’s rebuild, as skipper Surya would lose his wicket in a hurry, as India would falter at 41-3.
But, alongside Rinku Singh, Nitish would go on to light up the skies with confidence, as the Andhra-based batter would play out his innings patiently, mixing up drives and slogs of all kinds, to calmly play India to danger.
Finally, on his 27th ball faced, Nitish would find the single and would reach his maiden international T20 fifty for India, in just his second game for the Men in Blue, and India would cruise to 122-3 in 12 overs.
