And despite South Africa winning two of their games- vs USA and England, their final league game against West Indies could be a virtual quarterfinal, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals, and the losing team most likely out of the competition. West Indies lost to England and won against the USA. England lost to South Africa but won against the West Indies.
England Better Placed to Qualify
However, England are placed better than South Africa and West Indie because their last league game is against the USA and even the co-hosts created one of the major upsets, knocking over Pakistan in the league stages and put up a valiant fight against South Africa, their meek surrender to West Indies gives England hopes to push for a big win, thus boosting their NRR in the process. A win for England would mean they will end with four points and one from West Indies and South Africa will also end on the same points, or possibly both.
If South Africa beat West Indies, then their passage to the semi-final will be clear and West Indies will bow out of the competition provided England win over USA. If West Indies, win they will go up to four points, leaving SA stranded at four as well, then as per the margin of win for WI, they can even go top of the table. In that case, England’s victory margin against the USA will play a big factor in who makes it out of the group to the semi-final.

And if by any chance, the USA beat England today, then the SA vs WI game will not have much relevance because in all likelihood a WI loss with ensure they will go through from the group to the semi-finals.
