Watch: Tom Abell's Breathtaking Effort in the Field Delights Commentators And Fans
Sunrisers Eastern Cape's Tom Abell produced a stunning effort in the field during the ongoing SA20 league.

The second season of SA20 is up and running and has already produced several memorable moments. While the batters continue to make the headlines with their power-hitting,  Tom Abell managed to steal the show with a brilliant fielding effort when his team Sunrisers Easter Cape took on Durban Super Giants in the fifth game of the South African T20 league .

The Super Giants registered an impressive 35-run win in the high-scoring contest, hosted at St George’s Oval in Port Elizabeth last week.

Super Giants first and posted a mammoth 225 runs on the board with JJ Smuts and Nicholas Pooran leading the run-fest with blistering half-centuries. While Smuts slammed a 38-ball 75, Pooran scored 60 runs off just 31 deliveries.

During the 18th over of Durban Super Giants’ batting, Smuts flicked one powerfully to deep square leg region. Initially, it seemed like the ball would comfortably clear the boundary line for a six.

Abell kept his eyes on the ball,  leapt high and incredibly, caught the ball with his right hand but quickly realised he was over the boundary and then attempted to lob the ball back into the field.

Despite his stunning effort, he Abell was deemed to have touched the boundary before throwing the ball back and the television umpire declared it a six.

A clip of the impressive fielding was dropped on the official X account of the SA20 League.

Here’s how fans have reacted to the video–

Abell was in sublime form with the bat as well. After Sunrisers Eastern Cape lost their both openers early in the chase, Abell played a quickfire knock of 65 runs, which was laced with seven fours and two sixes.

Among others, Tristan Stubbs scored 55 at a 200-plus strike. Their contributions, however, were not enough to take the Eastern Cape across the line.
