Ananya Panday Says She, Janhvi, Sara 'Always Show Up’ for Each Other: 'Women Are Pitted…’ | Exclusive
As we mark Women's Day, Ananya Panday opened up about her bond with Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.

Gone are the days of juicy tabloid headlines that reported cat fights between female actors on a film set! Stars from the nineties have time and again spoken about hyped up rivalries with their contemporaries and how that affected their public image. With conversations on feminism gaining ground and the young generation of actors championing women supporting women, it would be safe to say that sisterhood and female friendships within the film industry aren’t just myths.

So, when Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra root for each, Radhika Madan and Jasleen Royal join Sanya on an all-girls trip and Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor post pictures from their Kedarnath vacation, they make the noise for all the right reasons. As we celebrate sisterhood and female bonds this Women’s Day, we revisit the time when Ananya Panday spoke about how she shares close friendships with many of her peers and how they inspire her to be a better version of herself.

Talking about how women not getting along are just false narratives that get pushed, she exclusively told News18 Showsha, “Women actors are pitted against each other and that’s something that people create more than actors themselves. The relationships shared between actors are hyped up. Most of my closest friends in the industry are women and I always find them very, very supportive.”

Having started her career at around the same time as Sara and Janhvi, she often gets compared to the two. But Ananya remains unfazed about the same. Sharing her fondness for them, the Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Gehraiyaan actor told us, “Whenever I’ve a film, a song or a trailer coming out, Janhvi and Sara are always the first few people to message me or come for my screenings. I do the same for them. I always show up for them.”

Competition, in fact, isn’t even a thought that crosses her mind. “We all are very different and bring different things to the table rather than eating into each other’s zone. In fact, the work they do inspires me more than anything else and makes me work harder,” she stated.

When quizzed about her favourite works of them, Ananya said, “I’m really proud and happy about them. When I saw Janhvi in Mili and Sara in Atrangi Re, I was so happy with the performances they gave. It’s very important to tell people that they’ve done a great job if you’ve liked their work. That can go a long way in helping them with their confidence.”

Reiterating how it’s not in her nature to shy away from praising her peers, the 25-year-old added, “I like appreciating people when they do good work. I’m not ashamed of that. If I watch something starring my contemporaries and if it strikes a chord with me and inspires me, I feel the need to them that. I don’t have any shame in telling people that I would love to work with them.”
