Director Vishal Bhardwaj, who is helming Netflix Khufiya, opened up about the possibility of collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan on a film. The filmmaker, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, revealed that he and SRK have spoken about making a film together and he feels that the day is not too far when they would announce a movie.
“We’ve been trying to work with each other for a long time," Vishal Bhardwaj said. “In fact, Jawan ke baad — I loved Jawan — I called him and spoke to him at length. At one point, we came very close to doing a film. It was announced also and we were going to shoot but somehow it didn’t happen," Vishal added, seemingly referring to the time he was planning to make 2 States with SRK. For the unversed, in 2010, Mumbai Mirror had reported that Vishal was going to adapt 2 States with Shah Rukh.
It was claimed that Asin Thottumkal, who was seen in Ghajini, was going to star opposite the superstar. The film was eventually directed by Abhishek Varman and it starred Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the lead.
Vishal revealed that the conversation to collaborate has been on with him. “Whenever we meet, humesha yeh rehta hai ke kab hona hai. Ab wo waqt aa raha hai," he said. While fans wait to see Vishal and Shah Rukh to collaborate, the superstar has an ‘indirect’ cameo in Khufiya. It is to note that Shah Rukh is not part of the Netflix film. However, one of his movies features in it. A scene from the film is played out and fans can spot Shah Rukh in it, thus doubling up as an ‘indirect’/accidental cameo.
“Cameo toh ho hi gaya hai indirect toh film bhi iss baar honi chahiye. Andar se mujhe bhi feeling aa rahi hai. Shah Rukh ne bhi mujhe bola hai ke iss baar mujhe kuch lag raha hai ke hum log kuch kar payenge saath mein (An indirect cameo has happened with Khufiya but we are hoping to work on a film now. My intuition says it will happen. Even Shah Rukh was saying that he feels we might end up working together)," Vishal added.
