Everton, Nottingham Forest Charged by Premier League Over Breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules
This is the second time Everton are charged along similar lines following the earlier setback they suffered as they were docked 10 points from their points tally in the ongoing season for financial irregularities as well.

Premier League sides Everton and Nottingham Forest were charged by the league on Monday over breaches of profit and sustainability rules. The clubs are set to be referred to an independent commission for flouting financial rules.

Everton suggested they were under the impression that they were compliant with the permitted £105m losses after selling Brazilian Richarlison to Tottenham for £60m in the year 2022.

The Merseyside club also said the league had previously informed them that interest payments on their new stadium would not count towards losses. But the independent commission, from the initial case had ruled otherwise otherwise.

After 21 games in the ongoing season Everton stand 17th, one spot above the drop zone with 17 points to their name following a string of good results despite the 10-point deduction they were slapped with following the first charge.

Nottingham are placed 15th having 20 points from as many outings. Forest have won five games this season while managing to come away with a point through draws as many times in the ongoing campaign as well.

The side from Liverpool believe that if they get a favourable ruling on their first appeal it would go a long way in helping them navigate the secondary charges. Sources state that the Toffees plan to mount a defence along the lines of a deficiency in the Premier League’s rules.

Everton have triumphed on 8 occasions under manager Sean Dyche this season while pulling off 3 draws. They would have been in a much higher position in the standings had it not been for the point deduction that did not go well with the passionate fanbase.
