“Roy Keane, maybe. Again, it’s a tough one. You have Scholes, Rooney, but yeah, Roy Keane. He was around in the era when I started to actually follow United. You know, when they started winning the Premier League, and ended up winning like 20 titles,” stated Agarkar.
“There was just something inspiring about him, and he’s a great pundit now. It is enjoyable to watch. Sometimes he got carried away, which was also always fun to watch as well.”
Roy Keane is the fiery Irishman who became Manchester United’s midfield general during the most successful period of Sir Alex Ferguson’s managerial reign. Known for his hard work, hard tackling and passionate displays, during his 12 years at Old Trafford he made the midfield his own. Perhaps best defined by his performances in the treble-winning season of 1998/99, ‘Keano’s career was filled with outstanding performances, much silverware and the occasional outburst.
Aside from his influential displays for United, Keane – who scooped Footballer of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards in 2000 – proved an inspiration to his country and winning close to 70 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Keane helped United achieve massive success during his 12-year tenure at the club, his honours including seven Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League.
