Shillong: Royal Wahingdoh FC rallied from a goal down to hold Mumbai FC 1-1 in their Round 17 Hero I-League encounter at the J N Stadium here on Sunday.
With Sunday's draw, the visitors earned three points from their last three matches and 16 points from as many matches while Wahingdoh went a place up securing third place and 27 points from 17 matches.
Both teams scored a goal each in the first 45 minutes of the match through Josimar Martins and Kim Seong-Yong respectively. With title hope in their mind, the home side began the match with attacking football on display which was also equally matched by the visiting rivals.
A chance for the home side came as early as in the 10 minute when Jackichand Singh found Kim Seong-Yong in the Mumbai FC half after a failed corner kick.
Yong missed when he failed in controlling the ball leaving Mumbai FC keeper an easy chance to collect the ball.
Attacking Royal players Densill Theobald and Seong-Yong made clean quick passes only when Densill's powerful right footer went just above the bar in the 20th minute mark.
Three minutes later, Josimar scored the solitary goal for Mumbai FC when he took advantage of a defensive lapse.
Continuing with their attack, Wahingdoh was rewarded in the 34th minute through Kim Seong-Yong as they leveled the score.
Kashyap made two important changes to Royal Wahingdoh team that went down to Dempo SC in Goa 3-2. Under the bar, Prem Singh was replaced by Nikhil Bernard while striker Seityasen Singh was replaced by Yong.
On the other hand, the visitors brought in R Vashum and C Abranches while Abhishek and Climax were benched.
