Owned by India's leading cable TV distribution company DEN Network and in possession of perhaps the biggest player in the Indian Super League (ISL) in Alessandro Del Piero, Delhi Dynamos may not have set the field on fire yet but it will be foolhardy to consider them as pushovers.
Delhi have drawn both their matches so far, including a goalless game against FC Pune City and a 1-1 but entertaining stalemate against league leaders Atletico de Kolkata.
But it will be wrong to say that the Dynamos are about Del Piero only. Besides the Italian, they have the players that can be crucial when they take on their next opponents Chennaiyin FC at home on Saturday - in search of their first win.
Alessandro Del Piero: The Juventus legend has admitted adjusting to Indian conditions hasn't been difficult coming from a stint with Sydney FC. Although he has looked a bit rusty in Delhi's two games so far, with Del Piero one thing is for sure that defenders can't be complacent when he in on the ball. He still has the ability to score goals out of nothing and can be a real handful for his opponents.
Mads Junker: Junker has over 100 goals to his name and the experience of European football behind his back. He is a team player and can be used as a No. 10 or as an out-and-out striker - No. 9. He had a brilliant game against Pune but was unlucky not to score. He had plenty of chances but failed to beat the Pune goalkeeper. He will like to improve on that against Chennai at home. His versatility is the key for Delhi and his attitude to help other team members surely makes him a player to look out for.
Francis Fernandes: Fernandes brings energy and positivity on the left wing and the ability to cut inside the box and find the target makes him earn the tag of a gamechanger. Ever since his international debut in November 2011, Francis has established himself as a regular in the Indian team and is surely one of the first names on the team sheet. His speed, trickery and intelligent movements at the wing, as well as in the hole behind the striker can cause problems for Chennaiyin FC defence.
Robert Lalthamuana: Delhi have arguably the best defence in this year's ISL. Along with Robert, they have the likes of Naoba Singh, Shouvik Ghosh and Anwar Ali. Robert is expected to be the rock in Delhi's defence playing in the full-back position. He comes into the team with huge experience and has already won a number of trophies during his time in the I-League. With the kind of speed Robert has, he can be a threat while attacking as well. The stocky player has a dangerous left-foot shot and is not afraid of letting it rip. He is a proven goal-scoring threat from set pieces as well.
Shylo Malswamtulunga: They call him legend in Mizoram. He is the first player to play for a big club outside the state and also the first Mizo lad to wear India jersey. If you are interested in Indian football and if you believe his plaudits, then Shylo is arguably one of the best wingers the country has produced in the last decade . He is one of the consistent performers and can still beat his man for pace. Defenders will have to watch out for him on the flanks, as the Dynamos will certainly benefit from the winger's pace and pin-point crosses.
