It's no secret anymore that Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is all set to put an end to his glorious 27-year career at Old Trafford. United's last match this season against West Brom on May 19 is expected to be his last in charge. But who is going to replace him? That's the question.
If English tabloid reports are to be believed, it's Everton manager David Moyes. The 50-year-old may not be as big in stature as Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola but his credentials are pretty good.
Moyes was made Everton manager in 2002 and since then he has turned out fairly good results considering he has never had top-class players to manage. He is the third longest serving manager in the Premier League right now after Ferguson and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who is reportedly also on his way out.
Come to think of it, Moyes won't be a bad choice at all. He is well-spoken and well-behaved. United need a manager who commands players' respect; who can bring the best out of them. Moyes certainly fits the bill.
United have already clinched the Premier League for a record 20th time and it will be an emotional moment when Ferguson walks out of the club on May 19. Ferguson has let it be known several times in the past that he is a big admirer of Moyes and his good opinion might land the latter one of the most high-profile coaching jobs in the world.
