Restart your computer.
Restarting your computer clears out any temporary glitches. Those glitches can be the source of the Roblox error and restarting is an easy solution to the problem! Press the Win key or click the Windows logo, then select Power > Restart.
Run Roblox with administrator privileges.
Roblox can't run properly without the correct permissions. Right-click the app icon and select Run as administrator. Repeat this process every time you open Roblox on your computer. You can make this a permanent change by right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties > Compatibility > Run this program as administrator. Skip this step if you use Roblox on the web and don't have a program installed.
Clean the thumbnail cache.
This cache can get clogged and prevent other apps from working. Some Redditors have found that doing this helps the game run. Open Disk Cleanup and use the drop-down menu to select your Windows Installation drive. Click Ok to continue. Check the box next to "Thumbnails" in the "Files to delete" section and click OK. If you check any other boxes, you can delete important data needed to run your game.
Allow Roblox through Windows Firewall
Windows Defender Firewall prevents apps from connecting to the internet. In this case, Roblox will crash with the "An unexpected error has occurred and Roblox needs to quit" error. To allow a program through the Firewall, open Windows Defender Firewall in Control Panel and click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall > Change Settings. Check the box next to Roblox and click OK. If you have antivirus software other than Windows, you'll need to allow Roblox as well, or you can disable it.
Disable Memory Integrity on Windows 11
This feature can cause the error message when you're gaming. While it's better for security to keep this feature on, it will cause the "unexpected error" in games and plays better if this is turned off. If you don't have Windows 11, skip this step. To turn Memory Integrity off, open Windows Security (press Win + I and go to Privacy & security > Windows Security > Open Windows Security). Click Device security and click the toggle under "Memory integrity" to turn it off. Restart your computer for the changes to apply.
Update Windows.
Outdated software can cause a lot of glitches, like the error message in Roblox. See if you can update your Windows computer in Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates (Win 11) or Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates (Win 10).
Uninstall and reinstall Roblox.
The app's downloaded files can be corrupted, causing this error message. Keep in mind that uninstalling the game does not delete your games; since it's cloud-based, you'll be able to play your games once you re-download the game and sign in. To uninstall on Windows 11, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and click the three-dot menu to see a menu. Click Uninstall > Uninstall. To uninstall on Windows 10, go to Settings > Apps > Roblox > Uninstall > Uninstall. Once the game is uninstalled, go to the Roblox website to redownload the game.
