1,133 Poll Candidates File Nominations in Telangana on Last Day, BRS 'Copycats' Pop Up on List

On the last day, Congress state president Revanth Reddy filed his nomination from Kamareddy. It’s going to be a pitched battle here as he will take on chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Reddy is contesting from a second seat (Kodangal) and so is the CM (Gajwel). This constituency too is geared up for a fierce fight as KCR will clash with his former aide, Eatala Rajender, from the BJP.

As many as 1,133 candidates filed their nominations on the last day. Apart from the aspirants announced by major political parties like the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the list shows that 460 independent candidates also filed their nominations on Friday. The list reveals the names of lesser-known outfits like Aabaad Party, Baliraja Party, Bharatha Chaitanya Party, Blue India Party, Indian Believers Party, Yuga Tulasi Party, and others.

The parties that have names similar to the ruling BRS are Bharath Samaj Develop Party, Bharat Chaitanya Party, and Bharatha Chaitanya Yuvajana. There are 114 registered unrecognised parties in Telangana. These parties do not get certain privileges that recognised parties do. The offices of most of these parties are listed in Hyderabad.

Telangana will vote on November 30 and the date of counting is December 3. There are 3,17,17,389 eligible voters in the state. Of them, 1,58,71,493 are males, 1,58,43,339 are females, and 2,557 belong to the third gender. There are 15,338 service electors and 2,780 overseas electors.
