Hyderabad: Customer Beaten to Death by Hotel Staff After Argument Over 'Extra Raita' With Biryani

In a horrific incident reported from Hyderabad, a customer was allegedly beaten by some restaurant employees and later died after he asked for some extra ‘raita’ for the biryani. The incident occurred on Sunday after a customer got into a heated argument with the hotel staff after the former asked for extra curd while having biryani.

The incident waa reported at Meridian restaurant in Punjagutta in the heart of the city late on Sunday night where the victim, Liyaqat was having dinner with his friends and was attacked by hotel employees after a heated argument over some extra curd, IANS reported.

As the argument escalated, both groups got into a physical fight, and police reached the hotel, a police official said. Later, the man and the hotel staff went to the Panjagutta police station and complained about each other.

As per media reports, CCTV footage from the hotel and eyewitnesses claim that the man was badly assaulted by the hotel staff after the argument.

While the victim didn’t die on the spot and there were no external injuries, he later started vomiting and collapsed at the police station. He was shifted to a hospital where he was declared dead, the official said.

Family members of the deceased man alleged that there was a delay in taking him to the hospital.

An autopsy will determine the cause of the death, police said, adding that a murder case has been filed against the employees of the hotel and an investigation has begun.

Meanwhile, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig Quadri reached the spot and demanded justice for the victim’s family.
