HYDERABAD: The traffic police have booked 1,497 cases against teenagers for rash driving at different parts of the twin cities between February 7, 8 and 9.
CV Anand, additional commissioner of police (Traffic) said most of the youth who were booked were involved in driving bikes and fourwheelers without proper driving licences. The offences include signal jumping (180), overspeeding (13), rash/negligent driving (38), cell phone/earphone driving (158), triple riding (98), using multitone horns (11), wrong side driving (251), drunken driving (1), no driving licence (694) and riding without proper documents(53). "Counselling sessions for 1,003 young violators and their parents was conducted at the Traffic Training Institute in Goshamahal and traffic police station, Begumpet. They were shown various videos about traffic awareness and rules. Most parents were very appreciative of the effort to counsel children," Anand said.
