CHENNAI: In a bid to bridge the digital divide among underprivileged sections in Tamil Nadu, Ford Business Services Centre (FBSC) donated 175 computers to schools and institutions across the State. The initiative to train underprivileged school kids in using computers and acquiring its skills is part of the project jointly initiated by FBSC and the Rotary Club of Madras South.President and managing director of FSBC Joginder Singh announced the donation of computers in front of US Consul General of south India Jennifer McIntyre and said it comes during Ford’s ‘Global Week of Caring’. “The programme will empower underprivileged women and kids by providing them with valuable computer skills that will make a difference in their lives,” he said.K B Sridhar, founder and CEO of KnowIT, said the project had been launched two years ago and it benefited more than 15,000 in 250 centres across the State.
