JEYPORE: Three persons, including a sarpanch aspirant in the recently concluded panchayat polls, were killed in a road accident near Sunabeda on Monday. The mishap occurred when the motorcycle, on which they were travelling, fell from a bridge on a hilly road in Sunabeda area. The two other deceased are ward members of Munjaguda panchayat under Dasmantpur block. While the sarpanch candidate was identified as Dhora Jani, one of the deceased ward member was Daitari Nayak. Identification of the second one is yet to be ascertained. Police said it was not clear immediately whether the rider lost control over the two-wheeler or the bike fell from a height after being hit by some vehicle from behind, Inspector in-Charge of Sunabeda police station S N Satpathy said. Sources said Dhora Jani had contested for the post of Sarpanch at Mujanka under Dasmantpur block in the three-tier panchayat polls that concluded on Sunday.
