A gang of three miscreants cheated two elderly women in the guise of policemen and made away with their gold ornaments in just one hour.
In the first incident which took place under Hebbal police station limits, Radha, 64, a resident of Bhuvaneshwarinagar, was duped of gold chain. Police said while Radha was going to a departmental store around 11 am, three persons approached her and claimed they were policemen. They allegedly told her that a murder had taken place in the vicinity, and asked her to take care of her jewels.
As she removed her chain, they asked her to keep it properly and took it from her. They wrapped it in a paper and gave it back to her. When Radha reached home and unwrapped the paper, she found stones and realised she was cheated. Later, she filed a case with Hebbal police.
In a similar incident in Banasawadi police station limits, around 11.50 am, Pachchamma, 60, a resident of OMBR Layout was duped of her 64 grams jewels including two bangles and a chain.
Police said she had gone to a bank to deposit money and while returning, three men approached her on 100-feet road near OMBR Layout and claimed they were police.
They asked her keep to her jewels safely and conned her in a similar way. She filed a case with Banasawadi police.
The police have suspected that the same gang was behind both the incidents. Further investigations are on in this regard.
