3 held for ransacking hospital

The Chilkalguda police on Thursday arrested three persons for allegedly ransacking the Gandhi Hospital premises and abusing on-duty doctors on Tuesday.

According to the police, the three men allegedly damaged hospital furniture and abused the on-duty doctors, holding them responsible for the death of a welder, Abdul Sajjid Khan, 22, who was brought unconscious to the hospital after a freak mishap at Jal Vihar here on Tuesday.

The accused--Mohammed Mohsin, Sheikh Mohammed and Mohammed Afsar--are residents of Bholakpur near Musheerabad.

Police said that they were able to trace the miscreants from a video footage recorded by the CCTV camera at the hospital.

The trio was seen damaging furniture in the casualty ward and abusing doctors in the video. Sajid had been injured while playing in the pool at Jal Vihar. He was declared dead by the doctors after he was brought to the hospital.

Incensed by this, relatives and friends of Sajid, numbering about 50, reached the hospital and started arguing with the doctors.

Chilkalguda police registered cases under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act and various sections of the IPC and the investigation is on.
