A mentally challenged son allegedly killed his father by hitting him with a brick in Barauli area in Kanpur, the police said on Monday.
A resident of Barauli, Shayam Manohar (55), who works as a carpenter, on Sunday, had a fight with his 30-year-old mentally challenged son Dipu. After the fight, Dipu left the house. Manohar then went to look for his son, who was sitting on a tree. He asked Dipu to come down repeatedly, who refused to do so. Later in a fit of anger, Dipu hit his father with a brick several times, they said, adding the victim died on the spot and the accused fled from the spot.
The villagers late in the evening informed the police when they saw Shayam's body lying in the field. The body has been sent for post mortem and a search is on to nab the accused.
