BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) hardly ever surprises anyone. But when they do, they ensure that they leave no stone unturned. The CV Raman Road widening has worked to their advantage and the travellers are happy that now they can travel through the road with the wind blowing in their hair and have no bumps on their rides. The much anticipated widening has finally been completed and the dividers are on the move to differentiate the two from each other. The road is smooth. Vehicles move easily through the road. The long jams are a matter of the past the widened road allows for the easy traversing of vehicles. The pavements are not yet complete but will be done so in a day or two. Gopal, a pedestrian, said, “Walking through the area before was to be treated like an adventure camp - facing obstacles and making way through it with great difficulty. Now the pavements are almost ready. The stones have been removed. It’s encouraging to see such work from the authorities.”CV Raman Road connects the areas of Vidyaranyapura, Malleshwaram and Yeshwantpur to Guthalli, RT Nagar, Jayamahal and Mekhri Circle. Given the importance of the same, the delay in work had caused major hassles for the commuters. The project had an estimated cost of `1.75 crore. It began in the later June of last year. City Express had published a report on the same titled, ‘The pro’s and cons of widening’, in appreciation of the work carried out by the authorities concerned excluding the delay and boulders left unattended to.Now the blocks of stone have been cleared and it is a cakewalk to pass through the road. Ashwin, a bus traveller, said, “Earlier, it was severely difficult not only to travel through the road amidst the potholes and the stones but also to walk. But now, the smooth flow of traffic allows me to reach on time.”As days pass by all one can do is hope that the BBMP continues their good work and Bangalore’s roads do not have to suffer again.
