Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar is not visiting Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Limited and his film 'Special 26' has no relation to the store in Zaveri Bazaar, says a statement from the jewellery brand.
Akshay, whose new film 'Special Chabbis' is said to be based on a real-life 1980s heist in a jewellery store in Mumbai, is expected to visit the actual spot of crime.
"Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Limited (a Shrikant Zaveri Group company also known as TBZ - The Original) denies any heist whatsoever at the flagship TBZ - The Original store in Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai. It also denies any heist or robbery in the 1980s as indicated in the 'untrue' news reports," said a statement.
"TBZ - The Original has always deployed the best possible state-of-the-art security measures and personnel to avoid any unfortunate instances. In fact, TBZ - The Original has one of the best track records in the industry in terms of stringent security measures."
"Further, TBZ - The Original has not granted any permission to the any film crew in relation to the above mentioned purpose/promotion to visit to TBZ - The Original store in Zaveri Bazar," it said.
"It is well-known that the incident of the heist (as referred to in the film 'Special 26') occurred at a jewellery store (which has the similar name but belongs to another group) at Opera House in the 1980s. This store has no connection whatsoever with TBZ - The Original owned by Mr.Shrikant Zaveri," the statement added.
