TIRUNELVELI: The relay fast against Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) organised by the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) entered into its fifth day on Saturday at Idinthakarai.Besides, another group launched a three-day fast against the plant at Radhapuram, around 10 km from Koodankulam, in Tirunelveli district.Demanding the shutdown of the plant, the first phase of the indefinite fast was staged between September 11 and September 22 at the coastal village of Idinthakarai near Koodankulam.The second stage started on October 9. The protest at Idinthakarai was suspended for a day on October 17 in view of elections at Koodankulam. It resumed the next day and the agitators started a relay fast.A large number of people form Koodankulam participated in the relay fast on Saturday, said PMANE coordinator S P Udayakumar. In addition, a section of advocates from across the state also joined. Meanwhile, another protest group, Koodankulam Nuclear Reactor Preventive Organisation, began a three-day fast at Radhapuram on Saturday.
