THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Top officials of the Southern Army Command will meet Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Monday for a civil-military liaison conference. The conference, organised after a gap of four years, will be held at the Government Guest House, Thycaud. It will discuss issues related to law and order, security, welfare of armed services personnel and ex-servicemen and Army-State government on various issues.
Southern Army Commander Lt. Gen A K Singh and other senior officers of the command including Major Generals Y C Tharakan, K Surendranath, N S Jamwal and A K Pradhan will attend the meeting. Lt Gen A K Singh will arrive here on his maiden visit as Southern Army Commander on Sunday. He will be in the state until August 2, a defence spokesperson said. Commissioned into Armoured Corps in 7 Cavalry, Singh is a graduate of the Staff College at Camberley, UK, and has undergone the Higher Command Course at Army War College and the prestigious Senior Officer Course at National Defence College.
