CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has recalled a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against Muthuraja, an inspector attached to the Race Course police station in Coimbatore, following his appearance before the court on Thursday.Coimbatore City Police Commissioner TP Sundaramurthy also appeared before the division bench comprising Justices K Mohanram and GM Akbar Ali and filed an affidavit tendering his apology for not arresting the inspector and producing him before the court on the earlier occasion. Originally, while taking on file a habeas corpus writ petition from M Johnson of Thoothukudi seeking the production of his son J Kishore Jaffri (18) in the court and to set him at liberty, the bench on February 7 had directed the inspector to be present in the court on February 14. When the matter was taken up on Feb 16, the Addl Public Prosecutor informed the court that the inspector was not present and had deputed only a constable on his behalf. Holding that the non-appearance of the inspector in spite of the earlier directions was nothing but intentional and wilful and it showed utter disregard on the part of the inspector to the orders of this court, the bench issued the non-bailable warrant.
