New Delhi: India's bid to play host to one of the biggest sporting events in the world, the Asian Games in capital New Delhi, got a major boost on Thursday when China pledged its support for the 2014 edition.
China's affirmation came after an Indian delegation visited the Chinese province of Changchun, said an Indian Olympic Association release on Thursday.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had earlier discussed the bid document during a meeting on Wednesday with the Indian delegation, which also included meeting other nations who would voice their support in India's favour.
The Indian Capital and South Korean city, Incheon, have emerged the top rivals vying for the rights to host the event. A final call will be made at a meeting later on to decide the eventual hosts.
