BANGALORE: Two youth who had come to the city from Assam and Pondicherry have been allegedly kidnapped by unknown miscreants from Cotton Pet police limits on Tuesday night.
Shampaul (24), a BTech student from Silchar of Cachar district in Assam, is the person who has been kidnapped along with his friend, a native of Pondicherry. His identity is yet to be ascertained. Shampaul's father Sudarshan Paul is a contractor in Assam and Shampaul was also reportedly involved in getting medical and engineering seats to aspirants.According to the police, Shampaul had informed his parents that he was going to Pondicherry to visit his girlfriend and had gone there. Later, Shampaul, with one of his friends, hired a Scorpio (PY01AV1818) there and reached Bangalore along with driver Senthil on July 13. They picked other friend Biswas Chakravarthy at BIAL and booked a room in a lodge in J P Nagar. They stayed in the city for three days and on July 16 they went to Goa and returned two days later. They stayed at a lodge in Cotton Pet Main Road.

"On Tuesday evening, Biswas left for Mumbai while Shampaul and his friend had plans to go to Chennai. As they checked out the lodge in the night and they were on their way to Chennai, three unknown miscreants came in a car and allegedly waylaid their vehicle on Cotton Pet Main Road. They allegedly dragged Shampaul and his friend out of the vehicle and forcibly pushed them into their vehicle and sped away," the police explained. Later, Senthil rushed to Cotton Pet police station and filed a case. But, no ransom calls have been made by the abductors, the police added.
