KOCHI: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s e-learning platform A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive e-Learning World) won the jury award for the Best Innovation in Open and Distance Learning under the higher education category at the World Education Summit-2011 in New Delhi the other day. Vallikkavu Amrita E-Learning Research Lab director Kamal Bijlani received the award from Indira Gandhi National Open University Vice-Chancellor V N Rajasekharan Pillai. Amrita E-Learning Research Lab project manager Praveen Bist, BCCI selection committee chairman Kris Srikanth and digitalLEARNING Magazine Editor-in-Chief Ravi Gupta were among those who attended the award distribution function.“We are honoured to receive the award and delighted that A-VIEW has been recognised for its utility to give quality education,” said Kamal Bijlani. The event was organised by the Indira Gandhi National Open University in association with the Centre of Science Development and Media Studies and Elets Technomedia.The World Education Awards have been instituted for giving recognition to the innovative initiatives in the field of education globally. A-VIEW, the versatile e-learning tool, helps in providing quality education in the higher education sector by conducting online workshops even in remote areas in association with the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. Recently, A-VIEW was used to conduct online workshops on Basic Electronics and Thermodynamics, which were attended by more than 3,000 teachers, according to a statement issued by the Amrita E-Learning Research Lab at the Vallikkavu Amritanandamayi Math.
