PUDUCHERRY: B Srikanth, IPS assumed charge as Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) of Puducherry on Friday.Srikanth, who was transferred from Karaikal, replaces V J Chandran, IPS, who has been moved to the crime and Intelligence wing of the Puducherry Police.Srikanth’s transfer came at a time when the law and order situation in the region has been evoking sharp criticism from the opposition.Top police officials of the region met Srikanth after he assumed charge. The SSP urged the officers to deal with even small issues with all seriousness. Speaking to reporters later in the day,Srikanth said that action would be taken to maintain law and order after carefully analysing the prevalent situation in the UT.Nandhagopal ShiftedA Nandhagopal, now the SP (South), has been transferred to Sigma Security and he will be replaced by T Bhairavasamy. Nandhagopal will also hold additional charge as SP (Special Branch). Balla Hanumallyya, who is SP (Food Cell) at present, will replace Bhairavasamy as the SP (Officer on Special Duty), Pondicherry University.Similarly, Pondicherry Police Service (PPS) officer V Deivasigamani, now the SP (Rural), will be the SP of Mahe. He will replace V Mohanraj, who is transferred as SP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (V&AC) wing.SP N T Sivadasan has been transferred to the Traffic wing, replacing G P Pazhanivel, who is transferred as SP (Rural). S Ramaraj, now the SP (V&AC), will be the SP (North).
