Bangalore: A top level police officer who was booked for allegedly clicking pictures of a woman at a coffee shop is now blaming the Commissioner of Police for his plight. Dr. P Ravindranath, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) resigned after he was charged with taking pictures of the woman on Monday. He was also accused of intimidating her later on. Ravindranath allegedly clicked the pictures of the woman, when she was at a cafe on Cunningham road, just behind the Bangalore City Police Commissioner's office.
He belongs to the 1989 batch of Indian Police Service (IPS).
Home Minister of Karnataka KJ George has refused to accept his resignation and has ordered a CID probe into the whole affair. Ravindranath has alleged that the Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar is behind the 'conspiracy'.
He claims that Auradkar has been nursing a grouse against him for a long time and tried to frame him in a false case. He also claims that since he is in the race for the Commissioner's post, Auradkar wants to discredit him.
However, Auradkar refused to comment on the whole issue.
Both Ravindranath and Auradkar have complained to DGP LR Pachau.
Ravindranath, a medical doctor before he cleared the IPS, is a Dalit from Andhra Pradesh. His father was a minister in the Andhra Pradesh government.
Raghavendra Auradkar, meanwhile, is a local Kannadiga Brahmin.
Ravindranath alleges that since he is a Dalit, they are against him.
The opposition parties in Karnataka have demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah intervene in the matter.
