BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike cleared encroachments on Raja Kaluve in Byatarayanapura area on Saturday without any resistance.According to sources, as many as 12 sheds constructed on the Raja Kaluve, many years ago, were removed. However, the authorities allowed a woman, living alone in a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) house, to vacate the place after two days on ‘humanitarian’ grounds.“We will use force her to move out from her house if she fails to vacate the building before Wednesday,” sources added. The clearance drive was hit by rain in the afternoon. However, all sheds, which encroached upon the Raja Kaluve, were removed. “Encroachment was removed at only one stretch of the Kaluve. There is still a long way to go before clearing encroachments all along the Raja Kaluve. We are determined to remove all of them without showing any mercy, but, in a phased manner. The top brass of BBMP has given the green signal for removal of encroachments,” the sources noted. The drive was supervised by executive engineer (Storm Water Drain) Prahlad and assistant executive engineer of Byatarayanapura Sub-Division Raghavendra.
