New Delhi: Mahesh Bhupathi and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek made short work of the Polish duo of Mariusz Frystenberg and Marcin Matkowski, winning their first round match at the French Open 6-4, 6-0 on Thursday.

Bhupathi and Stepanek were broken twice in the first set but the Indo-Czech pair managed to win the opener, helped to some extent by Fyrstenberg and Matkowski's errors.

The second set in contrast was a cakewalk for Bhupathi and Stepanek, who held on to their serves and broke their Polish rivals thrice to wrap up the match.

Stepanek had already created a stir by beating fifth seed Fernado Gonazalez in his first round singles match. And now, he along with the Indian ace took just an hour and eight minutes to polish off their Polish opponents.

In the second round, Bhuapthi-Stepanek will take on Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain and Filippo Volandri of Italy.
