BANGALORE: While the state of Bihar is considered to be the face of changing India, the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) is taking extra efforts to promote the state as an emerging tourist hotspot. On Friday, representatives from the BSTDC were in the city for the ongoing campaign to promote Bihar tourism, with a 2-day ‘road show’ that involves an exhibition of intricate travel photographs and an exclusive information kiosk for those keenly interested in ‘discovering Bihar’.“Among all Indian states, Bihar is the most intimately linked to Buddha’s life, resulting in a trail of pilgrimages, known as the Buddhist circuit,” said Navin Kumar, Deputy General Manager, BSTDC, who was addressing reporters here. He added, “Bihar is a land blessed with beauty - both metaphysical and physical, with its rich heritage of antiques, artifacts and historical facts.”Currently on at The Chancery Pavilion, the 2-day ‘road show’ that concludes today (Feb 4) showcases Bodhgaya, Gaya, Nalanda, Pawapuri, Rajgir, Vaishali, Vikramsila and Kesariya as potential tourist destinations. The road show has come to the city after stints at Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai. “You should visit Bihar and enjoy what it has to offer. Be it the lovely eco tourist spots where black bucks roam freely close to Nalanda or the majestic Garuda bird, spotted in parts of Bihar, Assam and Cambodia,” said Navin Kumar. Thanks to the efforts made by Bihar Tourism, the state witnessed a whopping 1,32,33,304 tourists, which includes 1,27,05,531 domestic and 5,27,773 foreign tourists in 2011.
