CHENNAI: A woman and her two daughters were killed in a blaze at their residence in Chetpet on Tuesday. The woman’s husband and a third child were admitted in a private hospital for treatment of burn injuries in what the police suspect to be a case of suicide.According to police sources, Gnanachandran and his wife Jaya of Sri Lanka had recently rented the second floor apartment of a building located on Spurtank Road for to attend to the education of their three daughters. On Tuesday night, residents from the locality called the police after they noticed flames coming out of their apartment. The Chetpet inspector Mahendran, who was accompanied by other police personnel and two fire tenders led by fire officer from the Central division Priya Ravichandran, then rushed to the spot. They found the charred bodies of Jaya and her two daughters amid the smoke and fire, while her husband Gnanachandran and a third daughter were found alive with burn injuries. The injured duo was rushed to a private hospital. The police have registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances.
