CHENNAI: An 11-year-old boy was swept away in Buckingham Canal in Thoraipakkam on Monday, even as search was on for the body of another boy, who drowned a day earlier.According to the police, R Vignesh, a school dropout, of Kannagi Nagar was playing with his friends in the the canal, when he was swept away in the current. His father Raja, an auto driver, subsequently lodged a complaint with the local police station, who have launched a search for Vignesh’s body with the help of the fire and rescue services personnel.The rescue workers, meanwhile, continued efforts to locate the body of 10-year-old M Sridhar, who was swept away while playing in the same canal in Kodungaiyur on Saturday.In a spate of water-related tragedies, a school teacher, M Sarala (24) fell into a pit and drowned on Saturday at T Nagar.Similarly, two-year-old K Kishore drowned at Sathangadu on Sunday.
