At least 17 people were killed and 33 others were injured after a luxury bus fell into a 20 feet deep ditch on the Mumbai-Pune expressway near Panvel.
The incident took place early morning on Sunday. A Swift car driver was changing a punctured tyre and an Innova had stopped to help him. The bus, coming from Satara, crashed into the two cars and fell into a 20 feet ditch on left side of the highway.
"The bus was coming from Satara and going towards Mumbai. And the driver didn't see if there were cars parked or not and he knocked on the cars and after that he lost control. Then he turned to the left where Innova was parked and then it dragged the car and fell 20 feet off the highway in the ditch," said a police official.
The injured have been taken to various Hospital in Panvel.
