Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh BJP legislature will meet on Monday to elect state party chief Shivraj Singh Chauhan as its leader and MP?s new Chief Minister.
While Chauhan was on his way from Delhi to Bhopal on Monday, a hoax bomb scare forced the train to stop at Jhansi.
The general body meeting will take place at 1800 hrs, IST in the presence of party observers Arun Jaitley, Pramod Mahajan and Rajnath Singh.
After the meeting, Chauhan is likely to call on Governor Balram Jakhar to stake claim to form government.
According to party spokesman, Chauhan is expected to be sworn in on November 29.
Sidetracking firebrand leader Uma Bharati's claim for the top post, BJP Central Parliamentary Board had on Sunday announced Chauhan's appointment as the next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh replacing Gaur.
The meeting was attended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Party president L K Advani.
Advani had sought to placate Bharati by appointing her as BJP General Secretary.
