Chhattisgarh: CRPF's Israel-inspired Jungle Surveillance Thwarts Big Naxal Attack in Sukma | Exclusive
Troops were alerted and lives saved after a surveillance drone captured images of a large number of Naxals moving in a specific direction

Israel-inspired surveillance by the Central Reserve Police Force proved to be instrumental in saving lives and alerting troops to the movement of a large number of Naxals with cover from the top.

A drone flying 8 km from Tekalgudem village initially captured the Naxals’ plan on January 29, revealing visuals of a substantial group heading in a specific direction. Ground sources told News18 that on observing this movement, troops from the Chinnagelur area, situated 8 km from Tekalgudem, were promptly alerted and launched an attack.

The Naxals, however, executing a planned strategy, proceeded towards Tekalgudem after triggering an IED. To engage the forces, they strategically left some people behind.

Sources said the number of Naxals was so high that almost a kilometre-long queue was visible and captured by the drone. While some were moving away from the queue to get an aerial view and keep a lookout for danger, most in the crowd were following the leaders. After reaching Pedda Gelur, the Naxals moved in different directions to attack forces in Tekalgudem.

Officials said aerial support, if provided, can eliminate almost 300 to 400 Naxals. After the firing ceased near Chinnagelur on Tuesday (January 30), a substantial attack unfolded in Tekalgudem. Sources said forces stationed at Chinnagelur heard 40 to 50 blasts, confirming an attack on the camp in the afternoon.

Since the forces were trying to establish a forward operating base (FOB), they had a special task force, and district reserve guards also joined the counter attack on Naxals. The well-planned strategy of the Naxals was aimed at preventing the forces from getting backup and orchestrating a coordinated attack.

Sources further said due to the force’s efforts to establish a FOB, the Naxals are continuously plotting attacks. The forces are expecting that at least half a dozen Naxals have been eliminated and two dozen have suffered injuries.
