Rajput fringe outfit Karni Sena members barged into a school in Madhya Pradesh and vandalized property as some students were performing on a song from the film.

Ratlam: While the Censor Board has cleared the controversial Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, ‘Padmaavat’, Rajput fringe outfit Karni Sena is far from letting it rest as they barged into a school in Madhya Pradesh and vandalized property because some students were performing on a song from the film.

As Bhansali’s upcoming film is finally expected to see the light of day after being stalled for some time, the Karni Sena refuses to let go of the controversy surrounding it.

During a cultural event at St Paul’s School in Ratlam’s Jaora, some students were performing on the ‘Ghoomar’ song from the film on Monday when the Rajput outfit supporters barged into the school premises.

Police said one of the children and a parent were injured in the incident. The terrified children and their parents escaped to the nearby farms to save themselves.

MPS Parihar, station in-charge of Jaora police station said, "Nearly 15-20 persons barged into the school premises where as part of its annual day function, "Ghoomar" dance from the film 'Padmaavat' was being staged by a young student. The mob threw chairs, caused panic among the audience, disrupted the function and then fled the venue."

Owner of the school, Devendra Munat later said that the Karni Sena members vandalized furniture, a sound system, notice board and window glasses.

On the contrary, Karni Sena’s local wing has refuted the allegations.

“On being informed about the said performance, we went there to advise the school administration but had nothing to do with the vandalism. It must have been done by some anti-social elements,” Karni Sena district head Jitendra Singh Barkheri told the media.

Earlier, the Rajput organisation had raised objections not just to the film 'Padmaavat', because it's based on the life of Rani Padmini, they also had problems with the fact that Bhansali has shown the Rajput queen "dancing" in the Ghoomar song.
