New Delhi: Former coal secretary and accused in the multi-crore coal scam HC Gupta has moved an application in a trial court requesting cancellation of his own bail.
According to people close to him, Gupta, perturbed with multiple cases against him, sought to withdraw his vakalatnama (his petition) from all cases.
Gupta broke down in court and said he had neither the money nor the energy left to fight these cases and that he should be hence be arrested.
This unusual incident took place during a hearing of Kamal Steel case in special CBI court of judge Bharat Parashar on Tuesday.
The Patiala House court in New Delhi will hear his application on Wednesday.
Those close to Gupta claimed he was in an unstable state of mind and hence made the application without knowing the consequences of the act.
