THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The much awaited announcement of Congress nominees for various Corporations and Boards was made by KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala here on Thursday. The exercise was carried out after long drawn consultations with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other leaders, eventually keeping the balance between representatives of ‘A’ and ‘I’ groups in the list. Out of the 40 Corporations/Boards, nominees for 22 organisations have been finalised. While former minister K P Noorudeen has been nominated to the post of  chairman of Khadi and Village Industries, ex-MLAs K C Rosakutty and P J Joy will head the State Women’s Commission and Bamboo Corporation respectively. Vijayan Thomas, managing director of Jaihind TV, will be the chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation. N Venugopal is the choicefor the GCDA while P K Venugopal will head the TRIDA.Horticulture Development Corporation will be headed by Lal Varghese Kalpakavadi. INTUC state president R Chandrasekharan will hold the reigns of Cashew Development Corporation. The other nominees are: K R Rajendra Prasad (Coir Corporation), P S Prasanth (Youth Welfare Board), A Shanavas Khan (Coir Workers Welfare Board), K Viswanathan (KELPAM), Capt P K R Nair (Sainik Welfare Board), N Azhakesan (Abkari Workers Welfare Fund Board), C K Rajan (Toddy Workers Welfare Fund Board), Joseph Perumballil (Khadi Workers Welfare Fund Board), Joy Thomas (Consumerfed), M M Basheer (Co-operative Pension Board), Kunju Illampalli (Co-operative Examination Board), P C Ramakrishnan (Balasahitya Institute), K P Haridas (Headload Workers Welfare Fund Board) and John Jacob Vallakalil (Ksheera Karshaka Welfare Fund Board). Out of the total nominees, ‘A’ and ‘I’ groups have almost equal representation. Chennithala told reporters that it was a Herculean task to finalise the list, and many deserving leaders were still left out. ‘’The Congress, as a leading partner of the UDF, has taken a stance that its nominees will be finalised only after partners in the coalition made their choices for the  organisations allotted to them. On the basis of the strength of MLAs in the Assembly, the Congress is entitled for 40 posts. Many of the remaining institutions are statutory bodies and the term of them will end only in due course. Filling up of posts in such organisations will take time,’’ he said. He said that more women representation would be ensured in the next phase. Asked about the disenchantment expressed by UDF coalition partners such as Janata Dal (Secular) on the sharing of Corporation/Boards, Ramesh played it down. “All should understand the limitations of the Congress,’’ he said.  The KPCC chief said that the ‘Panchayat Mahasabha’ planned by the Congress for elected representatives of the party in the local bodies of  the state would be held in Kochi on March 10. It will be inaugurated by  Defence Minister A K Antony. Around 8,000 are expected to attend the conclave, “he said
