BHUBANESWAR: Finance minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei on Friday said that the rehabilitation and periphery development advisory committee (RPDAC) meeting of the Kalinganagar industrial complex should be convened immediately. In a letter to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC-central), the Minister said the RPDAC meeting has not been held for more than three years. He said not holding the RPDAC meeting for such a long period tells about the image of the administration. Pointing out that problems relating to displacement and rehabilitation of Kalinganagar could not be solved fully after so many years, the Minister said the inordinate delay has made the situation more difficult. Ghadei said that a number of incidents have taken place and issues cropped up during the period which requires immediate convening of the meeting. Meanwhile, there has been several agitations by the local people which needs proper solution. The issues include, displacement and rehabilitation related problems, eviction from encroached government land, employment by industries, use of groundwater by industrial units and periphery development. Because of these outstanding issues the RPDAC meeting needs to be immediately convened, he said.
