Cops foil Million March Anniversary Fete

HYDERABAD: Police on Saturday prevented several Telangana activists from proceeding towards the Tank Bund to organise a programme on the occasion of the first anniversay of the Million March.Telangana Vidya Vantula Vedika (TVV), Telangana Journalist Forum and several other Telangana organisations have decided to organise a programme at Suravaram Pratap Reddy saute on the Tank Bund and planned to release a book on the objectives of the Million March.However, police denied permission for them and banned entry of Telangana activists and media on the Tank Bund. In the morning Telangana Electronic Media Journalists  Association also made a vain bid to go to Tank Bund.In the evening a team led by professor G Haragopal and several Telangana activists  again tried to proceed towards the Tank Bund but were arrested by the police and shifted to Gandhinagar police station. They were released later.Retired Supreme Court judge B Sudharshan Reddy, TJAC chairman professor M Kodandaram, professor K Haragopal, Telangana Journalist Forum president Allam Narayana, TVV president Mallepally Laxmaiah were among those arrested and released.
