Councillors bring water pots to BBMP meet
BBMP councillors voiced the water shortage crisis in their wards by bringing empty plastic pots to the council meeting.

BANGALORE: Though water-related problems were not included in the ‘subject meeting’ of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council meeting on Thursday, Councillors voiced the water woes in their wards. On Thursday, before session began, Peenya industrial area Councillor K L Thimmananjiah (Independent) stormed the well.

Later, Nagavara Councillor Irshad Begum and D J Halli Councillor Sampath Raj joined him with empty pots. Thimmananiah demanded Mayor Sharadamma to call BWSSB Chairman to the Council. Adding to this, Kuvempunagar ward Councillor Yashodamma said that Sharadamma is going to complete one year in the capacity of  Mayor, but she has failed to summon BWSSB Chairman to any of the BBMP Council meetings.

Mayor Sharadamma replied that she was aware of the water problems in the city and would hold a meeting to find a solutions.

BBMP Council adjourned

BBMP Council was adjourned after Councillors including Ruling Party President, Opposition leader Udayshankar, JD (S) leader Padmanabha Reddy and other Councillors paid homage to Higher Education Minister late Dr V  S Acharya and actor late Karibasavaiah. Many Councillors thought it was improper to conduct council proceeding as three-day mourning was in effect in the state.

Added to this, election dates for Gandhinagar by-poll has been announced already, and it is not advisable to approve developmental works during a time in which code of conduct is in effect. After hearing all these arguments, Mayor Sharadamma adjourned the council meeting to February 27 and 28.
